2026 Concert Series
We are delighted to announce the 2026 St Peter's Cathedral Music Foundation Concert Series.
Six glorious and varied concerts of choral music and more - including State Opera's Golden Voices.
On March 11th, we are delighted to welcome back The Windborne Singers, from the U.S.A. This unique vocal quartet gave an extraordinary and striking performance in 2024, blending folksongs of different styles from across the world with their own unique sound and style. Their 2026 concert is sure to raise the hairs on the back of your neck. We relish the opportunity to explore different styles of singing in our very special acoustic.
Our annual free Good Friday Meditation Concert on April 3rd features the sumptuous Requiem by Maurice Duruflé. Considered by some to the be the greatest of all the choral requiems, Duruflé's flowing music, inspired by gregorian chant, is paired with one of the finest Easter anthems in the repertoire, Gerald Finzi's Lo, the full, final sacrifice. Sung by the Cathedral Choir with organist Andrew Georg on our magnificent cathedral organ.
On June 27th, we are thrilled to welcome internationally renowned U.K. vocal ensemble The Gesualdo Six, presenting an outstanding program of choral music, and joined by both extraordinary award-winning and high energy Festival Statesmen Chorus, directed by Jonathan Bligh, and the Cathedral Choir. This evening promises to be a choral spectacular, with the Gesualdo Six at the centre as one of the finest vocal ensembles in the world. Don't miss your tickets to this.
On September 5th, two choirs - The Choir of Queen's College, Melbourne and our Cathedral Choir - join with a string quartet led by Helen Ayres (Seraphim Trio), presenting Haydn's beautiful quartet Seven Last Words from the Cross, thoughtfully interwoven with choral music from across the ages, taking the audience on a unique musical journey in the glorious acoustic of the cathedral.
The Music Foundation is delighted to support State Opera South Australia in their 50th Anniversary year, presenting Golden Voices - 50 Years of the State Opera Chorus - at St Peter's Cathedral on 14th and 15th November. The Cathedral will resound with the full strength of the State Opera Chorus, accompanied by piano and organ, in great choruses from Bizet to Bernstein, Puccini to Poulenc, Verdi to Wagner and more.
To finish off the year in what is becoming somewhat of a tradition, we are delighted to again partner with Adelaide Baroque to present Handel's Messiah - 7.00pm on Friday 18th December and a 2.00pm matinee on Saturday 19th December. Directed with vigour and life from the harpsichord by Anthony Hunt, for many music lovers, Christmas isn't complete without a Messiah performance. Handel's music resounds across the world at Christmas time as hopeful, joyful, lifting the spirit and filling the soul, ready for Christmas. Our Messiah was sold out in 2023 and 2025 to standing ovation audiences - don't miss this year's outstanding soloists Jessica Dean, Emily Edmonds, Andrew Goodwin and Nicholas Lester. And if you came last year, make sure you tell your friends - or buy them a Christmas present!
