String Quartet and two choirs combine for a tapestry of music.
Joseph Haydn’s string quartet The Seven Last Words from the Cross was specially commissioned for a Good Friday service at a church in Spain, in 1786.
Violinists Helen Ayres, Niki Vasilakis, violist Michael Stepniak, and cellist Tom Marlin are joined with the Choir of Queen’s College, Melbourne, directed by Will Fellows, and the St Peter’s Cathedral Choir, directed by Anthony Hunt.
A rich blend of choral music from across the centuries weaves in between the nine movements of Haydn’s quartet, taking the audience on a unique and rewarding musical journey in the glorious acoustic of St Peter’s Cathedral.
