Organ Open Day

Open to pianists aged 12-18, who have studied to the equivalent of Grade 5 AMEB Piano or above.

The Open Day will consist of

  • A tour of the St Peter’s Cathedral Organ;

  • an introduction to the concepts of how an organ makes sound and makes music;

  • an introduction to the techniques of playing the organ (and how they are similar to and differ from the piano)

  • an introduction to organ repertoire

  • an introduction to the different facets of an organists career

  • an opportunity to play three different organs

  • an opportunity (after the open day) to audition for the Junior Organ Scholars program (a scholarship program for beginner organists)

The Open Day and auditions will be led by Anthony Hunt, Director of Music, St Peter’s Cathedral.
