The St Peter’s Cathedral Music Foundation Concert Series 2024 begins with a taste of something a little different.
The Windborne Singers are an outstanding vocal group, with a different flavour. Their music is steeped in the traditions of ancient folk music, and early polyphonic music from all around the world.
This US-based quartet of young, talented singers will take you on a journey to all sorts of unusual musical places of beauty and inspiration, made particularly special by the wonderful acoustic our Cathedral offers.
Known for the innovation of their arrangements, the singers also educate and entertain, sharing stories about their songs and explaining the context and characteristic of the different styles in which they sing.
BBC Travelling Folk describes Windborne as “subverting expectations and redefining the genre… just absolutely phenomenal!” Audiences and critics lavish praise upon the singers not only for their technical mastery, but for their passion, engagement, and connection with each other and the audience, that imbues each performance with a rare power.
